Your domain name or more commonly known as the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is your business/entity’s pathway to the internet.  Without a domain name or URL, even if you have located your website to a working host server, will still not be viewable by the public as the public will have no way to find your website.  The quest is finding a domain name that is easy for the public to remember.  What I teach everybody who’s interested in a website is to think about their domain name being announced on a radio commercial and being heard while somebody’s driving in a car.  This individual hearing this domain name for the first time won’t have the time to write down what they’re hearing on the radio so they’ll need to be reliant on their memory to retain this information from the time they heard it until they get the chance to sit on a computer and type it out.

Since simple domain names have already been taken (cars.com, computers.com, dictionary.com, etc), we need to be creative with developing an easy to remember domain name for our websites.  PageWorkz was created by taking the web page (as they once were called) concept and making it work for the customer (page works) but since the original was already used by another company, I threw in the z at the end of the work only to find out this also was unavailable under the dot com extension thus using the dot net.  The downfall with this is my company is still, after over 10 years in business, still a local company, doing most of my best work through word of mouth.  I would like for you not to make the same mistake as I had back in 1999 and 2000 when developing my company.

What do you want to avoid in choosing a domain name?  Stay away from dashes or underscores.  Although it’s perfectly acceptable to choose a domain name with these punctuation marks in use, you will find yourself emphasizing the use of these punctuations quite frequently when getting the word out about the location of your website.  Once again going back to the radio analogy, every second is precious in a radio advertisement and every second wasted is money lost to your company.  The emphasis on punctuation, over the course of a 30 second ad could mean reducing your content by up to 10 seconds per 30, those 10 seconds could be used in making that one statement that could mean the difference of selling a customer on your company thus money in your pocket.

PageWorkz Web Solutions will sit down and discuss domain name options with you in order to find one that suits you, your business, and is easy enough to remember for the public to visit your site over and over again.

The cost of a domain name generally costs under $15.00 per year and can be renewed annually or up to 5 years in advance.  If for some reason you are unable to find a solid domain name of your own or are not ready for your own domain name at the time your website is completed, PageWorkz Web Solutions will allow you to use what is called a “sub-domain” under pageworkz.net, raceplace.org, or epaenduros.com which would look like this: yoursite.pageworkz.net.  All of this can be discussed when we have our initial meeting so call today.
