Jim Evans Jr., founder of PageWorkz Web Solutions, spends a grand majority of his free time enjoying the sport of auto racing and supports auto racing in numerous ways.

Jim grew up in Schuylkill Haven, PA and spent a good number of his Saturday evenings very early in life in a suburb of Port Carbon, PA known as “Schoentown” at the Anthracite Raceway, a ¼ mile track with a unique highly banked backstretch wall of dirt drivers would quite often use to slingshot themselves into turn 3 of the dirt oval.  This track has been closed following the 1974 racing season but the remains can be viewed from above using Bing satellite imagery.

Upon the closing of Anthracite Raceway, Jim’s next stint in enjoying live auto racing traveled about 10 miles west to Big Diamond Raceway.  Jim would travel with a neighborhood friend and his father to this 1/3rd mile track (later expanded to the current 3/8th mile facility) beginning in 1979 and still visits the facility quite frequently to this day.

When Jim graduated high school in 1985, his weekly trips to Big Diamond continued throughout the years as mentioned above but included with these weekly visits Jim traveled to Grandview Speedway and the now closed & leveled Penn National Speedway.  In his travels he has also visited and watched races at the following dirt race tracks (listed in no particular order): Lincoln Speedway, Port Royal Speedway, Williams Grove Speedway, Susquehanna Speedway, Latrobe Speedway, Mercer Raceway Park, Lernersville Speedway, Linda’s Speedway, Shellhammer’s Speedway, Cayuga County Fair Speedway, Five Mile Point Speedway, the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY, Orange County Fair Speedway, Rolling Wheels Raceway, Hagerstown Speedway, Volusia County Speedway, New Smyrna Speedway, and the dirt track at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.  On the asphalt he’s been to Mahoning Valley Speedway, Dorney Park Raceway, Thompson Speedway, Mountain Speedway (now Sundance Vacations Speedway) and Stafford Springs Motor Speedway locally and Daytona International Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Dover International Speedway, Pocono Raceway, Watkins Glen International Raceway for national stock car events.

Today Jim spends most of his time visiting Big Diamond Raceway exclusively but travels to Grandview Speedway and Five Mile Point Speedway on occasion.  He has the desire to make it to New Egypt Speedway, Bridgeport Speedway, Selinsgrove Speedway and Penn-Can Speedway for the first time in 2010 if time and money allow this to happen.  The inception of a new business corporation called Race Place could make these trips more possible but delays in the launching of Race Place have put this endeavor on hold for the time being.

Jim has spent several years helping several different racing teams in the past that include doing everything from being a pit board runner through literally working on the race cars themselves both at the track and in the garage.  This started back in 1986 when he intended to buy a car from Dick Biever but was side stepped by his long time friend and classmate Buddy Biever.  Evans continued working with Biever’s race team for the first three years of its existence but moved on when Biever decided to hire Duane Howard to replace their friend Keith Trumbo as the driver of this operation.  Evans spent parts of seasons or complete seasons helping owner Dave Zimmerman with his driver Mario Donati with their Street Stock operation, the Terry Peters crew with their modified, Randy Warner and his modified, Kevin Steffey’s modified team, he also spent some time helping Joe Sorokach on the spare occasion, as well as Dale Hammaker’s modified operation back in the day.

Today Jim spends most of his time helping the Payola-Motorsports operation with his best friend Corey Renninger as the owner of this two driver racing team (Corey & Dale Hartz) and enjoys working with the enduro guys to promote their division in the media, providing much needed coverage for this spectacular division of auto racing.  Beyond his help for Corey’s operation, Jim sponsors Toby and Karen Chase’s roadrunner and ladies enduro car operation by providing their racing team with complete, up to date coverage on their website.  He also has had provided a complete website for Bud Vidal in the past and is in the process of negotiations to keep the tradition alive with Bud’s youngest son Tyler and his roadrunner endeavor.  Jim has expressed interest to help a 358 modified team out by providing a complete website, weekly coverage, and updates but has yet to find the right team to work with to accomplish this goal for 2010.
